Crab-times

~ The Croissant Crab ~

Few days back I read out the famous Panchatantra
story of -The Heron & theWise Crab to my little one .
Since then I had been thinking of making some crabby
stuff. After a busy day yesterday Mr hubby & I stopped
at a cafe for a cup of hot cappuccino. While placing
the order I noticed their warm & crispy croissants which
at once reminded me of the wise crab from the story
(sounds an illogical comparison ) but perfect for a crabby
creation . So here is Mr Wise Crab that went inside my
lil ones treat tiffin today... Truly a lot can happen over
a cup of coffee..............Lols :) :)

Happy Diwali

~ Happy Diwali ~

Diwali , the festival of lights is the most joyful &
brightest of all Indian festivals. This 5 day festival
marks the triumph of good over evil & the victory
of light over dark. Sweets & savories, holy chants,
clay lamps & fireworks are an integral part of the
festival. Today is Dhanteras, this first day of the
celebration is dedicated to GoddessLaxmi, the deity
of wealth & prosperity . People light clay lamps
or Diyas and make symbolic footprints and
colorful patterns (called rangoli/ alpana/ kolams)
on the threshold to welcome the Goddess.

Wishing you all a very Happy Diwali
the Little Food Junction way !!!!

Diwali Lamps (Diya)

Cucumber & carrot slices
Diya- Cut out a crescent from a side of a cucumber slice
using a circular cookie cutter or a bottle cap .
Flame- cut out crescents from both the sides of a carrot
slice to make a drop shape flame. Assemble .

The Edible Rangoli

Make the desired pattern on a platter using tomato
sauce( fill in squeeze bottle or use a sachet ). Arrange
the sprouts /soaked /boiled lentils & veggies.

We had so much fun making this platter. I made the design
while my lil one filled it with the pulses n veggies. Will take
little more time than regular food creations but the fun little
ones will have is surely worth it !!!!!!!!!!!!!
