Xmas time

~ Merry Christmas ~

When temperature dips and teeth begin to
chatter we know that Christmas has finally
set in !!! It appears that  the advent calendar
and Indian winters seem to share a wonderful
bond.... From the very beginning of the month
the mercury starts dipping and by the Christmas
eve the weather becomes freezing cold . While
the  extreme north gets enveloped in snow,we in
capital city enjoy cold foggy mornings and
bit sunny afternoons.

Xmas tree Salad

Sliced cucumber, grapes, blanched beans n bell peppers .

Our Christmas tree was already up and
dazzling since early this month  but we were
still in mood to decorate some more .......
thus while drawing and crafting various
paper versions we came up with this super
easy idea !! While I sliced the veggies n fruits ,
daughter arranged it on the platter...

To  ride out cold breezy days and keep lil one
occupied we have been  baking some festive treats,
nurturing our little balcony garden , capturing the
gorgeous reds and greens of the local market n
spending time creatively in loads of  xmas crafts.

The winter season here is synonymous with vibrant
flowers and luscious juicy fruits and veggies -
heaps of strawberries, grapes, pomegranates, kiwis ,
winter cucumbers, colourful bell peppers, broccoli
and cherry tomatoes  flood the local  markets, making
it truly a veggie lovers paradise. Each visit to  market
tempts us to fill our our grocery bags up to the brim !!

After making loads of  Santa cap cards and
gift tags  for friends and family we decided to
treat ourselves on one too !!! The firm strawberries
made way to salad while the extra  pomegranate
arils made way to the  juicer . It was the day of xmas
salad .....  and holidays surely have this magical
way of bringing out the child in all of us !!!

Edible Doodle

~Water on Mars ~
A wonderful discovery by NASA

Since the time NASA announced the
discovery  of water on the red planet there
has been  a sudden spark in conversations
everywhere! The news channels that were busy
broadcasting national and  international news till
sometimes back have shifted their  focus towards
the fascinating discovery !!! I am sure you must
have loved the cute and bubbly Google Doodle
today ...we loved it too, in fact daughter found it
so fascinating that she watched Mr Mars Doodle
revolve and sip the glass of water so many times
till finally I made an edible version for her !!

Edible Doodle inspired by Google !!!

Mars Sandwich with fresh Pomegranate juice.
- Bread topped with homemade plum
tomato chutney ,veggie eyes and cheesy hands
and glass. Happy aliens- cheese n cucumber.

Water is life ....

Evidence of water on Mars is surely a big news
after all aren't we Earthians eagerly waiting
to find our celestial neighbours !!!

World Photography Day

  ~ World Photography Day 2015 ~

A good photograph is knowing
where to stand !!
                                            - Ansal Adams

Photography is not just a hobby for me, its
way of life and my window to the world.
Every time I pick up my camera, the magical
gadget is all ready to cast a spell on me, and for
hours and hours I stay glued to it ,changing my
angles, adjusting the props, waiting for that
perfect light and clicking  innumerable pics
till I get a best shot  to choose from.On the
occasion of World Photography Day nothing
could  have been better than combing my
passions in one.

Camera on my plate

Edible camera for World Photography Day

Whole wheat bread cut into a rectangle and  topped
with a bread circle, cheese, yellow squash and kiwi .

The pleasure of capturing moods of the people,
the joy of shooting colourful food on plates
or the happiness that a perfectly timed nature/
wildlife pic gives is too difficult to put in words.

Nature ...Trails near and far .....

Wildlife

Over all these years the camera has been my best
buddy, with thousands of shots and gradual
understanding and  improvement via each,
the journey has been a long and happy one.

Lifestyle .....outdoors n indoors.........

Portraits ....full of joys ...

Portraits

Photography that started as a passion took
a different route after I started working on
 several commercial projects. Right from
shooting food pics for Child magazine to
mocktails for Barista and a recent Quaker
cookbook , the passion surely came a long
way. Many projects needed working for long
hours but luckily the passion for photography
food and styling always kept my spirits high.

Truly someone has aptly said "Let your
words be few and your exposures many"
and then let the joy begin.......
